TTAIFA is the acronym for The Trinidad & Tobago Association of Insurance & Financial Advisers. It is an association of financial advisers that prides itself on its long history and involvement in the education and sales-recognition of persons employed in the area of selling life insurance and related financial services.
TTAIFA’s vision statement -To be recognized by our customers as the professional organization of choice in the financial services sector, constantly providing irresistibly better opportunities for our members to develop their potential to the fullest, that they in turn will impact positively on the lives of their customers – expresses precisely why the organization came into existence.
A Short History
Incorporated in 2003, TTAIFA’s predecessor, the Life Underwriters Association of Trinidad & Tobago (LUATT), was established in 1975 by a group of sales persons who saw the need to educate themselves in order to professionally represent the industry and to offer better service to their customers and clients.
Caribbean Association of Insurance & Financial Advisers (CARAIFA -TTAIFA’s parent body), and TTAIFA have embarked on educational programmes via the American College – an independent, non-profit, accredited institution founded in 1927 that offers professional certification and graduate-degree programmes to persons seeking career growth in financial services.
The LUTC programme at the College offers the LUTCF professional designation. The College also offers the Financial Services Specialist (FSS) designation which covers areas relative to financial planning and investment planning while the Life Insurance Management Assoc. (LIMRA) offers the Agency Management Training Course (AMTC) for supervisors / managers of sales forces.
All courses are moderated locally by exclusively tutored salespersons. Training, seminars, conferences, meetings and the coordination of regional and international affiliations all form a part of the educational network.
TTAIFA is proud of the fact that enrolment in professional development programmes is in a growth mode and wants to be considered as the educational institution of choice in the financial services industry.
Members who qualify for the prestigious international Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) meetings are identified and are seen as the sales “gurus” in the business. TTAIFA is affiliated to the MDRT in that a salesperson must be a TTAIFA member to qualify for MDRT membership.
TTAIFA’s secretariat is located at 129 Edward St, and their web site is www.ttaifa.com.
